I love the cold and snow, However I am not a great frequenter of places mountain…my laziness prevents me from me to ski and what I would do more in the mountains is sit in front of a window like this …..I could be there hours contemplating this beautiful landscape! Questo moderno chalet progettato dallo studio John Maniscalco Architecture is close to the Sugar Bowl Ski Resort in Norden, California.
Made keeping in mind the extreme weather of the place ( the snowpack reaches here the 8-9 mt ) the house clad in cedar is in fact on top of a pedestal of concrete in order to rise above the threshold of winter snow. The large windows allow geometry to merge with the landscape, the warmth of hearth and home. Breathtaking then the height glazing that accompanies the ascent of the stairs, vertical element to interrupt the horizontality of the draft.
The suspension, which showcases the beautiful staircase belongs to the series 14 of BOCCI, a collection of lights available in frosted glass melt compositions and countless heights.
The interior walnut, fir, concrete and steel maintain a perfect balance between the linearity of modern design and warm atmosphere of the mountain houses.
Take your cue from: The suspension structured , horizontal windows of the living room and master bedroom, The modern fireplace, the wooden ceiling to warm to room.
